HOLLYWOOD star Josh Hartnett was rushed to hospital after his car slammed into a police vehicle in a late-night crash.

The actor was heading home from a set in Canada after shooting an upcoming Netflix series when the horror smash happened.

His SUV collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol car shortly after 1am last Thursday.

According to an RNC press release issued on September 25, the collision happened at an intersection that caused "significant damage" to both vehicles.

Hartnett - best known for his work in Pearl Harbor and Oppenheimer - was taken to hospital with minor injuries alongside his 59-year-old driver.

The male police officer was also treated as a precaution.

The crash is now under investigation.
