A Tesco employee in Leeds, West Yorkshire, was caught on camera wrestling with a suspected shoplifter to retrieve stolen items.

The incident, which took place at a Tesco Express on 23 September, shows the worker grappling with a man who allegedly tried to leave without paying.

In the footage, the female staff member successfully recovers two packs of washing machine tablets after the suspect eventually gives up. An onlooker, who wished to remain unnamed, said: "It all happened very quickly. He didn't get away with anything and he even seemed to forget his bag."

The video has already racked up 1.4 million views and sparked a variety of responses.
