Small airplane makes emergency landing on Southern California freeway

SAN DIEGO — A small airplane joined the usually heavy traffic on Interstate 15 in San Diego late Monday afternoon when it made an emergency landing along the roadway's median. Reports of a plane on the freeway at Balboa Avenue were fielded by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department at 4:45 p.m., department spokesperson Candace Hadley said by email. "When crews arrived, they found that the plane had landed safely with no injuries," she said.
