A new warning has been issued by travel experts as new European entry rules starting next month coincide with a ban on bringing any food back to the UK - potentially with people seeing £5,000 fines. Travellers have been warned they face fines of £5,000 if they try to bring 5 items through customs - even if they bought it from duty free.

This is because the government rules on food being brought into the UK from Europe are still in place - an outbreak of a serious disease. It means that anyone travelling from hotspots like Spain, France, Italy and Greece will have to make sure they don’;t have any prohibited items in the luggage.
