CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An East Cleveland police officer who pleaded guilty to eight charges involving assaults after traffic stops, will be sentenced in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday.

On Aug. 4, Kyle Wood pleaded guilty to:

One count of telecommunications fraud

One count of attempted obstructing justice

Two counts of assault

One count of interfering with civil rights

Two counts of dereliction of duty

One count of falsification

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, on March 31, 2022, Wood and Officers Brian Stoll and Daniel Toomer assisted Officer Tyler Mundson in a pursuit.

Wood initially reported the driver had hit his cruiser, but O’Malley said body camera video showed Wood ramming the driver’s vehicle.
