A car crashed through a fence at a childcare center in Coventry, Rhode Island, sending five children to the hospital, NBC affiliate WJAR reported.

The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. at Child Care Plus, and there were about 12 to 15 children outside, fire officials told the news outlet. The five children who were hurt — all ages 7 and 8 — were taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital and Kent Hospital with minor injuries consisting of scrapes and bruises.

The woman who was driving the car reportedly hit large rocks before crashing through the fence that enclosed the childcare center's playground, WJAR reported. She was said to have stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.
