CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Shots were fired near a school bus in Charlotte on Tuesday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

It happened on Baltimore Avenue, which is near the intersection of South Tryon Street and Remount Road. Police said it doesn't seem that the bus was hit in the shooting , and no students were hurt.

Officers do not believe the bus was the intended target at this time. An investigation is now underway into the shooting.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed the following message was sent to district families in the area:

"Good morning, Myers Park High School families. This is Principal Folk reaching out to inform you of a report of gunshots heard this morning near bus number 831 while the bus was at a stop. The bus driver left the area. There w
