MERIDIAN TWP, Mich. (WILX) - A major construction project near Williamston is transforming a well-traveled bridge on Grand River Avenue.
The ongoing work is having a noticeable impact on local businesses.
One business, Joey’s Pet Outfitters, has seen a significant drop in sales since the construction began.
“About a month’s worth of revenue,” said Mark Marquardt, the owner of Joey’s Pet Outfitters in Williamston.
Since the project started in February 2025, Marquardt says he’s been feeling the effects.
“People aren’t taking their evening travel into Williamston to shop the local shops out here because it’s just too far out of their way,” said Marquardt.
