A man cut a woman from her ear to her throat while threatening to rape and kill her, a court has heard.

Mark Webber, 45, told the victim he had been paid to kill her, adding he would be given extra cash to carry out a sexual assault on her too.

In a horrific description of the night the incident occurred in May, the court heard the defendant had then made the woman sleep next to him in bed, all while he kept a knife underneath the pillow.

The judge at Swansea Crown Court said Webber had "brutally and sadistically" attacked the woman over a prolonged period of time, stating that on the evidence alone regarding the night in question, he should be considered as a dangerous offender.
