ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Peabody Montessori is on lockdown Tuesday morning, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

RPSO said around 9:05 a.m., the School Resource Officer at the school saw a vehicle speeding in the parking lot. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver tried to run over the deputy.

The deputy then fired several shots at the vehicle, but the driver fled the scene.

The school is on lockdown, but no children or staff were hurt.

The suspect’s vehicle can be seen below:

Both the Alexandria Police Department and Louisiana State Police are on the scene assisting RPSO.

As of 10 a.m., Alma Redwine Elementary, Acadian Elementary, Arthur F. Smith Middle Magnet and Peabody Magnet High School are on a Level 1 Lockdown as well.
