EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KALB) - A man has been accused of trespassing on the family property of a Mamou city councilman, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.

EPSO said this all began on Sept. 5 with a trespassing complaint on Fuselier Road. Responding deputies arrived at a home with three vehicles in the road, with two blocking the third. EPSO said deputies met with the two people involved, Rufus Searile and Mamou City Councilman Darrel Thomas. Thomas told deputies that he learned of a person on his family’s property. He arrived to see a vehicle leaving and blocked it before calling the police. He said Searile had no business on his father’s property and believed he may have been trying to mess with his horses.
