MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — A 57-year-old Rio Grande man was struck and killed after being thrown from his motorized bike Monday night, police said.

Police were dispatched to Route 47 South and School Lane in Rio Grande for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorized bicycle at 8:51 p.m. The bike was traveling south on 47 when a Ford Bronco attempted a left turn onto School Lane, entering the path of the bike, police said.

Albert MacFarlane was ejected from the bike and then struck by a Hyundai Veloster, which also was traveling south on 47.

MacFarlane was transported to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, where he was pronounced deceased.

The drivers of both the Bronco and the Veloster were uninjured, police said.
