FLUSHING, Queens (PIX11) – A Colombian woman was forced into sex work at a Flushing brothel after she was told she needed to pay off a $14,000 debt to bring her 10-year-old daughter to the U.S., according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
Kwai Ling Chan and Bobby Chen, a married couple, along with 34-year-old Tasi Chimchu, were accused of sex trafficking in the case. Chan, 47, allegedly met with the victim in June and agreed to the $14,000 fee, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors alleged that the victim was told she could work as a masseuse inside a Union Street apartment and that she wouldn’t be asked to have sex with clients. Chan is accused of then asking for passports from the victim and her 6-year-old daughter, who was already in the U.S., according to prosecutors.
