LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — Nearly 43 years after her body was found in a Freeport dumpster, the victim of an alleged homicide has been identified by police, authorities announced Monday.

Susan Mann, of Hollis, Queens, was 15 years old when she went missing on May 17, 1980. On Nov. 4, 1982, a body was found in a trash container behind Cantor Glass Works at 421 North Main St. in Freeport, which is now an autobody shop.

The body was considered "Jane Doe" at the time, and the case went cold. According to Nassau County Police officials, investigative genealogy led to the identification of Susann Mann as the victim.
