CRANFORD, N.J. -- Two teen girls riding their bikes are dead after being struck by a vehicle in an apparent hit-and-run crash in Cranford, New Jersey, on Monday night.

The two girls were hit around 5:30 p.m. Both victims died overnight.

Two women who say they work with the mother of one of the victims said both girls were 17 years old.

They said the suspect is also 17, and this was a case of stalking. The women said both the school and police were notified for the last three months.

The alleged suspect left the scene, but was later found and taken into custody.

Authorities have not released details about the driver or whether the collision was an accident or intentional.

ABC New York City affiliate WABC's helicopter captured a huge crime scene as police investigated the crash.
