GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to reports of a hazardous materials incident at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel on Pearl Street around noon Tuesday.

Responding crews found a 55-gallon drum of waste chemicals leaking. City officials closed the sidewalk and part of a parking ramp, but reported that there were no injuries or evacuations related to the incident.

GRFD moved the leaking barrel into a secured container by 12:30 p.m., according to a city spokesperson.
