VERNON, Conn. — A local former funeral home director has been arrested again on larceny and fraud charges, this time in Vernon.

Philip Pietras, of Enfield, was charged following an investigation into allegations of fraudulent activity involving pre-planned funeral services. Police said the investigation began in April 2025 and involved interviews with more than 60 victims.

On Tuesday, Pietras was charged with 20 counts of Larceny in the 2nd Degree and 60 counts of Intent to Defraud Funeral Service Contracts.

Pietras was held on an $800,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday to answer to the charges.

Earlier this year, Pietras lost his embalmer's license after being arrested.
