COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A man is facing charges after allegedly opening fire at four Richland County deputies early Tuesday.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said 23-year-old Renardo Tyson is facing four counts of attempted murder and numerous other charges.
Lott said deputies tried to stop Tyson on North Main Street and Meridian Drive for speeding, which led to a pursuit. Tyson’s car crashed into a ditch minutes later on Monticello Road and Ridgedale Street, but that’s when Lott said Tyson began firing at deputies.
Four Richland County deputies returned fire and Tyson was eventually arrested. RCSD told WIS that Tyson was struck multiple times. and that one of its patrol cars was shot five times in the exchange.
