Akron is taking part in a program that helps federal employees affected by recent job cuts to apply for positions with the city.
The city is now one of only three communities nationwide chosen for Work For America's Spotlight City initiative, a partnership, the city said, that will help Akron "recruit top talent, modernize hiring systems, and serve as a model for how local governments across the region can rebuild critical public services at a moment when federal layoffs are flooding the job market."
