MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The license of the lead veterinarian at Ridglan Farms was suspended on Tuesday.
The decision follows a unanimous vote by the Veterinary Examining Board of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP), according to a spokesperson from the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project.
The organization said the removal of Richard Van Domelen’s license is long overdue.
“Directing unlicensed staff to perform improper, painful surgeries without proper anesthesia is a flagrant violation of both veterinary ethics and animal welfare,” said Rebekah Robinson, president of Dane4Dogs. “We urge regulators to continue taking strong enforcement actions until the cruelty at Ridglan is stopped for good.”
