EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 45-year-old man was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals after detectives discovered two pitbulls that were suffering from severe neglect, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office says on Monday, Sept. 29, they conducted an animal welfare check at a residence at the 1100 block of Aspen Hills.

Upon arrival, detectives discovered two pitbulls in the back yard of the residence that were extremely malnourished, with bones visibly protruding, and they were infested with ticks, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The backyard was found to be littered with feces, lacking adequate shelter or shade, and without food or water.
