HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Help4WV was created in 2015 to address West Virginia’s urgent need for accessible treatment resources.

Currently, about 70 percent of callers are seeking addiction treatment, with the remainder reaching out for emotional support or mental health referrals.

Help4WV has connected individuals and families to treatment and support through more than 25,000 calls annually.

Andrea Johnson, program coordinator for Proud Peers, said, “The whole concept of recovery works because someone like me made it to the other side and then turned around and said, ‘hey, come on, I can show you how to get here.’ When I came in, I didn’t have a clue how to function in day-to-day life. I just didn’t because I haven’t done it in so long, but there were rooms full of people that said no
