Jonah Schollaert will be the first to admit that his golf game hasn’t been where he hoped it would be this summer.
“Tournaments-wise and Hurricanes, I won one Hurricane, but other than that it’s been shooting mid-70s. Not great,” Schollaert said. “I had a rough year for golf.”
He also had a rough day by his standards Tuesday afternoon at Valleybrook Country Club. But when it was all said and done, he accomplished his primary goal.
Schollaert shot a 3-over 75 but was able to maintain the two-shot lead he had when he fired a 2-under 69 last week at Hill Crest Country Club to become the first Our Lady of the Sacred Heart golfer ever to win a WPIAL Class 2A individual title. Schollaert finished the tournament with a 1-over 144 to edge out Greensburg Salem sophomore Luke Sikora by two stroke
