A new poll is revealing who Americans will blame if the federal government were to shut down.

As Republicans and Democrats in Washington still remain at odds over health care, the government is scheduled to shutter at 12:01 a.m. ET on Wednesday if Congress does not come to an agreement on a funding measure.

Republicans in the House are aiming to extend federal funding for seven weeks to allow time to continue working on annual spending bills. Meanwhile, Democratic leadership is pushing for an extension of tax credits under the Affordable Care Act that are set to expire at the end of the year, as well as a reversal of Medicaid cuts in Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” passed this summer.
