U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.) ripped Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “chilling” message to women in the Armed Forces on Tuesday.

Hegseth summoned hundreds of senior military leaders to an in-person meeting on Tuesday where he issued a series of directives that included requiring all combat troops to meet the “highest male” standards for physical fitness. Houlahan, an Air Force veteran, told CNN’s Dana Bash that Hegseth is encouraging women to leave the military with his directives.

“You can’t have it both ways. You can’t have ‘standard’ standards and then male standards. Either it’s a standard or it’s not. And where he and I do agree is that if people have to meet certain standards, they should have to meet certain standards,” Houlahan said on “Inside Politics”.
