SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- People in the southeast part of KELOLAND are being bitten, not by mosquitoes, but by something else. They are so small, some people call them no-see-ums, but it turns out you can see them, and you can certainly feel them when they bite!

They're tiny, less than a fifth of an inch, black, and they have quite a bite. They are called Minute Pirate Bugs. They usually hang out in farm fields, feasting on aphids and other insects.

Minute pirate bugs are a farmer's friend for getting rid of pests, but after the corn and soybeans dry up, the bugs they eat are gone. So, they come to parks or even your yard, looking for food.

"They are hungry, so they are moving to areas that are still green and lush and pretty much just test-biting anything they land on," said SDSU Urb
