NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - A special commemoration honoring victims of domestic violence took place in New Haven ahead of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
The theme this year in Connecticut is ‘Every Voice Matters, Every Action Counts.’
City leaders joined domestic violence survivors, service providers, community advocates, and others to support prevention, intervention and support efforts.
“This year to date New Haven Police Department responded to 2,772 calls of domestic disputes. Again, those numbers are staggering. There’s a lot of work ahead of us, but because we are here today recognizing the importance of this issue, we stand together to help confront it,” said New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, (D), Connecticut.
