An Española man faces attempted murder charges after sheriff's deputies accused him of firing a gun at two people in a house where he was staying.

Rio Arriba County sheriff's deputies have accused Christopher Chacon, 39, of firing several shots at a man and woman Monday at their house in Española. Witnesses said Chacon was staying with the couple and pulled a gun and fired at them after they asked him to start paying rent.

Chacon faces two counts of attempted murder, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Rio Arriba County Magistrate Court.
