GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (PIX11) — The Hempstead branch of the Long Island Railroad was suspended Tuesday night due to track damage, according to the MTA.
The damage was caused by an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks, officials said.
Nassau Traffic officials said delays in the area are expected.
The eastbound 7:20 p.m. train from Penn Station to Hempstead is delayed at Stewart Manor, and the westbound 7:52 p.m. train from Hempstead to Grand Central returned to Hempstead, according to the MTA.
Officials said NICE buses are cross-honoring LIRR fares as an alternative travel.
