DALLAS — The agreement over pay and working conditions between the City of Dallas and its police and fire employee associations expired Tuesday night without an agreement being reached.

The terms of the deal, reached in 2022 with the city's Bravest and Finest, will continue for a six-month "grace period" following the contract's expiration. It will "in no event" continue beyond March 31, 2026.

Juan Hernandez Jr., the head of the city's National Latino Law Enforcement Organization - Greater Dallas Chapter, described the negotiations as "frustrating for our members" and said he felt like the city was waiting until the last minute to present firm numbers.

Other police and fire association leaders did not respond or demurred when asked about the status of negotiations.
