OMAHA, Neb. —

Omaha City Councilmember Brinker Harding is not done pushing for his ordinance that aims to address homelessness in Omaha.

After four city council members, a majority, said a week ago they planned to vote against the proposal, the council instead voted to delay the vote to Oct. 21.

The vote to delay came on a narrow 4-3 decision. Councilmember Ron Hug joined the three Republican members in support of putting the vote on hold.

The three-week delay comes at Harding's request as he plans to amend his proposal.

"For both those people in the encampments as well as the citizenry of Omaha, it's something that needs to be addressed now," Harding said.
