LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui County unveiled new design plans for Lahaina’s commercial district on Tuesday.

The County’s Office of Recovery hosted the open house at the Lahaina Cannery Mall from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There, they revealed draft plans for the town’s iconic business hub Front Street.

“This process is going to provide a lot of certainty as far as how the streets are coming back and that is really influential for the commercial property owners of how they can build back their properties,” said Jennifer Maydan, and executive assistant with the Office of Recovery.

Front Street Recovery is a coalition of 73 Lahaina landowners dedicated to rebuilding Lahaina’s historic Front Street.

They say it is about time.
