OMAHA, Neb. —

Nebraska workers will be required to have paid sick leave starting Wednesday, as part of the Nebraska Healthy Families and Workplaces Act going into effect.

The law excludes some groups, including those under 16, seasonal agriculture workers, and workers at small businesses with 10 or fewer employees. Employees will begin accruing paid sick time after 80 hours of consecutive employment.

- Employers with 11-19 employees will each earn 40 hours of paid sick time a year

- Employers with 20+ employees will each earn 56 hours of paid sick time in a year
