NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A deadly crash forced the interstate to close at the Davidson County/Rutherford County line early Wednesday morning.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation shut down I-24 East at mile marker 63 for a crash involving a semi and another vehicle around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash involves at least one fatality.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted off I-24 at Old Hickory Blvd. and back on at Waldron Road.

TDOT estimates the interstate to reopen around 8 a.m.
