ESPN suffered brutal technical problems during the broadcast of the AL Wild Card playoff series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

MLB fans were in a state of rage over the issues that resulted.

An unusual crackling noise was consistent throughout the broadcast at Yankee Stadium from the second the Yankees threw the first pitch for the home team.

The Red Sox beat the Yankees , 3-1, as the Yanks had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning before getting out three times.

The camera feed also had choppy footage during the first two innings.

But the big issue was the crackling, which appeared to get even worse as the Yankee Stadium crowd got louder during sequences against their arch-rivals.
