The 149-year-old Durgabari Durga Puja, initiated during the reign of the Tripura kings and financed by successive governments for over seven decades, celebrated Maha Nabami on Wednesday with age-old rituals that continue to captivate devotees from across India and neighbouring Bangladesh.
Located in front of the historic Ujjayanta Palace, the Durgabari temple has remained a symbol of continuity where royal-era traditions blend with state administration. Ministers, dignitaries, and thousands of devotees thronged the temple to offer prayers on Maha Nabami, following rituals which have not changed for generations.
