CLAYTON, Mo. – A Florissant teen has been charged as an adult in the 2024 shooting death of his stepfather.

According to the Florissant Police Department, the shooting happened on Sept. 2, 2024, at a home in the 200 block of Brower Lane.

Officers arrived to find Antoine Whitney with a gunshot wound to his head. Whitney was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police recovered a firearm and shell casing at the home.

Investigators eventually learned Whitney’s stepson, Jalen L. Welch, had sent a text to the family minutes aftet the shooting, apologizing for what he’d done.
