UPDATE: A Summerville man is dead after crashing his ATV while driving north on West Armuchee Road this weekend.

John Clinton Hunter, 25, lost control while negotiating a right curve, according to a traffic report obtained by Local 3 News.

Upon impact with the guardrail, he was ejected nearly 80 feet into a wooded area. His ATV continued along the guardrail while overturned for 169 feet. First responders say he died on the scene.

Hunter, born in Rome, Georgia, was a member of the Subligna Baptist Church and a 2022 Agriculture graduate from the University of Georgia, according to an obituary posted on Earle Rainwater Funeral Home's website.

"John was a beautiful, sweet Soul and always had a smile," the obituary says.
