HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Developers could soon be charged to build in a growing Sumner County city.
After years of discussions and workshops, Hendersonville city leaders are looking to establish impact fees on any new developments
Unlike neighboring Gallatin, who have tried and failed to get state approval for impact fees, Hendersonville does not need to ask the state for permission to charge developers — it’s already allowed in their city charter.
“That’s why we’ve been discussing it and whether we wanted to take advantage of it and, right now, I think we’re looking to do just that,” explained Hendersonville Alderman Michael Martin. “I think we’re hovering about $5,000 for residential units, we think that’s fair.”
