BELLE MEADE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The city of Belle Meade is limiting its construction noises over neighbors complaining it’s just too loud.

Belle Meade’s new jackhammer ordinance will limit loud, repetitive jackhammering noises from construction sites.

The ordinance limits jackhammering between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Jackhammering with handheld or larger machines is not permitted on Saturdays, Sundays or any federal holiday. The noise limits passed on final reading on Sept. 17.

City commissioners said that multiple residents have complained about the noise issues. Neighbors said they can not only hear but also feel the jackhammering from blocks away.
