LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Spooky season has arrived at a high school in Logan County after it had some unexpected visitors -- closing the school down Wednesday.

Logan County Schools spokesperson Troy Alexander said Chapmanville Regional High School released early Tuesday after students discovered bats flying around in a classroom.

“I am happy that we were able to get this taken care of so quickly,” Alexander said. “There was wasn’t any nests or anything. It was just a few bats that happened to get in the building.”

Alexander said a couple of small bats slipped through a crack in the school, and there is no cause for concern.

As soon as school officials heard about the issue, they called in an exterminator who spent the day getting rid of the unwelcomed guests.
