JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A government shutdown is underway and affecting many federally funded programs and workers, including those in the military.

Millions of federal workers will go without pay during this shutdown while continuing to work. Many active-duty military members and their families are going without pay.

“My husband got told, ‘Guess what, you don’t get paid. You still have to go to work.’ Why am I going to work for a government that doesn’t want to pay me for putting my neck out on the line for you guys every single day?” a Marine’s spouse said.
