EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Mesker Park Zoo hosted a special sensory and accessibility session of its Wild Summer Lights event.
Zoo leaders say tonight was designed to give guests with sensory or mobility challenges a chance to experience the lights comfortably with smaller crowds, no live music and a calmer atmosphere.
Two trams were circling the park for anyone needing a ride through the lights trail or to the exits.
Officials say this event has grown very popular over the summer so they wanted to make sure it could be inclusive for everyone.
“This event has taken place over the last 8 weeks and its been a huge turnout. We’ve welcomed nearly 40-thousand visitors to the zoo just for this event itself,” Marketing Director Blake Shockley says. “This is a huge fundraiser for the zoo. I
