People in Icard got a first look at a proposed new elementary school in Hildebran on Tuesday.

The meeting was the first of two community meetings about the new two-story school that will combine Hildebran and Icard elementary schools into a consolidated Hildebran school. The second community meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Hildebran Elementary School.

Burke County Public Schools leaders, including board of education members, were on hand to answer questions at the meeting. Hamilton Cort with McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture made a presentation that showed how the two-story school will be situated on the campus.
