NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – You need to make nearly $200,000 to live “comfortably” in New York City, according to a study from GoBankingRates.

New Yorkers need to earn at least $92,210 to cover basic necessities, the personal finance site estimated. Assuming basic needs should not cost more than 50% of a household’s income, that puts the minimum “comfortable” salary over $180,000.

GoBankingRates used property prices and data from the Bureau of Labor and Sperling’s BestPlaces to determine the cost of living.
