Spirit Aviation Holdings Inc. will furlough 103 flight attendants at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus in December.

The budget-friendly airline said in a WARN noticed filed Sept. 22 that the layoff is expected to be temporary but the airline — which filed for bankruptcy protection for a second time following a Chapter 11 reorganization — said it was "unsure" how long the duration of the layoff planned for Dec. 1 would be.

The 103 flight attendants are represented by the Association of Flight Attendants.

Spirit told customers in its most recent bankruptcy filing that the filing would not impact the airline’s operations, tickets or loyalty program. However, Spirit warned investors in August that it may not survive without additional cash infusions.
