After the uncertainty of last week's forecast, this weekend should be a piece of cake. Cool, dry Canadian air — the opposite of Tropical Storm Imelda's moisture — will keep the Cape Fear region pleasant and dry.
Imelda did help dent a severe rain deficit across the region, with up to 3 inches falling across Robeson, Bladen and southern Sampson counties. However, Fayetteville still ended September at about 2.5 inches of total rainfall. That's about half of what we usually get during the month. As a result, the region remains either abnormally dry or in a mild drought.
For the next several days, there's no chance of additional rainfall. Instead, we'll enjoy seasonably mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
