WASHINGTON D.C., DC — The Washington Commanders' plan to open a new state-of-the-art stadium at the RFK site in 2030 comes with an ambitious transit goal: becoming the most public transportation-accessible NFL stadium in the country. But significant questions remain about how the District will pay for the massive Metro expansion needed to make that vision a reality, and whether it can be completed in time.

DC Councilmember Charles Allen, chair of the Council's Transportation Committee, is pushing hard to make Metro central to the gameday experience at the new stadium. His goal is for more than 30,000 fans to arrive by rail on gamedays, a dramatic increase from current ridership levels.
