FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. —

Two people were taken to the hospital after a fuel explosion sparked a fire in southern Indiana Thursday evening.

According to a post by the Highlanders Fire Protection District, crews were called out to the scene of a "fire-explosion" in the 4600 block of E Luther Road around 5 p.m.

In a post by the Floyds Knobs Professional Firefighters, the fire was started by gasoline catching fire while a zero-turn lawnmower was being fueled.

They said the fire caused a fuel explosion, which then caught the lawnmower and a nearby pole barn to catch fire.

Two people were taken to the hospital following the explosion.

One person was taken for burns to the face and upper extremities. The other person was taken for anxiety cause by the stressful situation.
