A new amber weather warning has been issued in Aberdeenshire ahead of Storm Amy's arrival on Friday, with winds of up to 100mph expected across Scotland.

Met Office forecasters have issued several warnings for the coming days, with the entirety of the north-east covered by a yellow warning for strong winds from 3pm on Friday until 11.59pm on Saturday.

Now, a second amber warning has been issued, covering areas of northern Aberdeenshire including Banff, Fraserburgh and Peterhead .

Forecasters warned: "West to northwesterly winds will increase during Saturday morning, with gusts widely 60-70 mph, and perhaps occasionally 80-85 mph in very exposed locations.
